About
Sally Light Interior Design was founded in 2026 as a natural progression from her work as an antique dealer specialising in 20th century artwork, design and furniture. The design studio grew from a desire to go beyond curating and selling objects alone; to shape spaces, flow, and experience. It marks a return to her roots in design, creating interiors in their entirety. Previous experience as a fashion designer informs her approach, bringing a refined understanding of scale, texture, proportion, and movement. This breadth of experience allows each project to respond to both its occupants and its space. Adding to her degree in art and design she is is undertaking the KLC course in residential interior design.
Approach
Instinct-led but informed, Sally brings together references shaped by cross-disciplinary knowledge across fashion, art, craft, antiques, and sustainable materials. These influences are absorbed naturally into the process rather than imposed as a style, allowing each space to evolve with natural fluency. Every project is approached as a collaboration between space, objects & client, ensuring the result reflects both the character of the home and the people within it. Drawing from her training as an artist, interiors are conceived as living compositions where material, object and form interact in harmony. Open and approachable, Sally balances observational insight and considered judgment with an intuitive understanding of space, ensuring spaces feel effortless and personal.
The Practice
Sally Light Interior Design works across a broad range of residential projects, from single rooms to full houses, renovations, and new builds. Each project is approached with the same curiosity and care, whether transforming a single space or an entire home. Grounded in lived experience renovating her own Victorian terrace, Sally engages not just with decoration but with interior architecture, ensuring that spaces flow, function, and feel entirely personal.
Using the RIBA Plan of Work as a framework, the process can be tailored to each client’s needs. This may range from an initial design meeting or colour consultation to full design packs, detailed shopping lists, and site visits.
Sally combines her unique experience from both large-scale, multi-million-pound fashion departments and her small independent business. This dual perspective informs her approach to problem-solving, ensuring that each design works as well as it looks and aligns with budgets. Limitations are embraced as opportunities, often inspiring the most creative and effective solutions. The studio’s work extends to creating custom and bespoke pieces to add an individual and unique layer to designs. Sally maintains personal relationships with specialist UK-based craftspeople, tradespeople, and restorers, and works directly with makers to bypass third-party brands. Likewise she has many great personal relationships with fellow antique dealers, allowing for a highly considered and well rounded approach.
Online and in-person communication ensures every stage is flexible, aligned with client availability and fully collaborative. Pricing varies by project and can include fixed prices for packs or hourly rates; please contact the studio for details. In the first year, rates are set with flexibility as the studio establishes its practice.
